Types of transportation

01
What types of transportation are there? What type of transportation should I choose?

There are several types of transport. This information will allow you to choose the most suitable type of transport for transporting cargo:

  • Air transportation;
  • Road transport;
  • Railway;
  • Shipping.

Each type has advantages and disadvantages. The main criteria for choosing one type or another are the speed of delivery, the type and volume of transported cargo.

ATC C&L specialists will select the optimal type of transportation based on your budget and desired delivery time.

02
What is multimodal transportation?

Multimodal transportation — mixed transportation using 2 or more modes of transport. Carried out under a single transportation document, responsibility for transportation is assigned to 1 person — the organizer of transportation.

The use of multimodal transportation is relevant for cases where delivery by one type of transport is not possible:

  • There is no direct communication between sender and recipient;
  • It is necessary to deliver cargo quickly and at reasonable prices, which is often more profitable for the client;
  • It is necessary to make delivery by different modes of transport from different carriers. Almost any type of transportation is multimodal.

Our company’s specialists have developed a number of multimodal schemes, which you can view on our website in the Multimodal transportation section.

Transportation times

01
What are the delivery times for goods from China?

Depending on your choice delivery schemes, terms can range from 3 days (air transportation) to 45 days (sea delivery).

02
What are the delivery times for goods from Turkey?

Depending on the delivery scheme you choose, the delivery time can range from 3 days (air transportation) to 25 days (sea delivery). The optimal time-cost ratio is considered to be auto delivery of cargo from Turkey for a period of 7-10 days.

Cargo tracking

01
How can I track the location of my cargo?

To obtain information about the status of your cargo, you can:

  • Use online tracking on our website. On the main page, in the «Cargo Tracking» field, enter the invoice number using letters and numbers.
  • When sending your cargo, we provide you with access to the Extranet — a secure corporate portal of the company, where in addition to the status of the cargo, you can obtain information about delivered cargo, as well as plan upcoming ones. In addition, get access to all documentation.
  • Contact your personal manager. He, taking into account your wishes, will set up a system for informing about the status of the cargo (notifications in a personal Extranet chat, by email or SMS).

Transportation procedure and stages

01
How is the cargo received?

The list of documents to receive the cargo:

1. A power of attorney, stamped by the organization:

— indicating the number of cargo spaces being received;

— indicating the passport data of the recipient's representative;

— indicating the right to sign the Act of Completed Works

2. The passport of the present representative, mentioned in the power of attorney

Transportation costs

01
Why do we request the most accurate information about the cargo?

Every day in our work we encounter requests from potential clients. For an accurate calculation, detailed information about the cargo is required. So, several criteria influence the final cost:

  • Type of cargo and packaging (boxes, pallets), number of pieces, dimensions, net and gross weight;
  • Pick-up and delivery address;
  • Incoterms terms;
  • Cargo readiness dates;
  • Delivery times to the client.

02
How are freight delivery rates calculated?

The cost of delivery consists of several criteria, each of which affects the final cost of transportation. The dimensions and nature of the cargo, its weight and type of packaging are taken into account. Based on information about the cargo, the cost of its delivery is calculated.

The type of transportation also affects the cost. Depending on the delivery time, transportation can be carried out from 3 (express air) to 45 days (sea container).

The cost also includes such details as Incoterms conditions (collection of cargo or organization of delivery to a warehouse, etc.), number of transhipments, final place of delivery, warehouse processing.

Shipping containers

01
Main types and types of containers for transporting goods

Cargo volume

01
How to calculate the volume of cargo in m3?

According to the formula V = a * b * h.

Here V — this is the volume, a — length, b — width and h — height (note: all data obtained during measurements must be converted into meters). Simply multiply these numbers and you will get the required volume of the box in cubic meters.

02
We need to send a small shipment. Which method is the most profitable?

The most profitable way to deliver a small consignment of goods or samples of goods is to transport goods as part of consolidated consignments (from 100 kg). This method is convenient because it coincides with the route of several shippers.

Every week at our consolidation warehouses we form groupage shipments from China and Turkey. Depending on the delivery time and type of cargo, you can choose different types of delivery as part of groupage shipments. More details on our website in the section Delivery of consolidated cargo.

03
There is a large shipment of goods to be sent. Which method is the most profitable?

To send large volumes of cargo over long distances, container shipping is the best choice. The main advantage of this type of transportation is the minimum cost per container, provided that the same type of goods or large equipment is transported.

Depending on the volume of your cargo, the type of container (20 or 40 feet) and the type of container delivery (sea or rail) are selected. Sea delivery is more profitable, but takes a long time (from 30 days). Railroad transportation does not depend on climatic conditions and is considered optimal in terms of time and cost.
